Job Description: Under limited supervision, the Senior Engineer
provides water management support related to the design,
construction, operation, and closure of tailings and leach
facilities, as well as all other mine water systems including
process and stormwater facilities. Serve as a company resource for
water balance modeling and contribute to the development of new
tools and methods to enhance mine water balance applications.
What You'll Do:
Provide site-specific support to engineers and site personnel in
the design, development, and maintenance of site-wide water balance
models.
Incorporate water use scenarios that reflect specific production
plans and climate conditions to quantify water balance
performance.
Use probabilistic predictive simulations to support capital
infrastructure design projects.
Use model results to identify and propose value-added solutions to
operational challenges or other requests.
Apply working knowledge of engineering principles to guide and/or
execute site-specific operational water balance activities,
including:
Managing contractor work
Conducting field investigations
Performing measurements, mapping, interpretation, accounting,
analysis, coordination, forecasting, problem solving, and
reporting
Provide training to multidisciplinary teams on specialized software
and water balance methodologies.
Serve as a technical expert for mine water balance applications and
lead efforts to innovate modeling methods, technology, and custom
tools.
Develop and/or review scopes of work, evaluate proposals, draft
formalized internal requests for funding, and manage contracts with
vendors for services and equipment as required.
Identify improvement opportunities and determine value related to
risk reduction.
Perform other duties as required.
Required Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline from
an accredited curriculum with five (5) years of applicable
experience, OR
Master's degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline with
three (3) years of applicable experience
Knowledge of civil, geotechnical, water resources, water
quality/treatment, and/or geological engineering principles
Demonstrated technical competence in at least one of the following
areas: tailings storage, leach stockpiles, water dams, process
water balance, water quality/treatment, hydraulics/hydrology,
hydrogeology
Proficiency in MS Office and other engineering tools (CAD,
analytical, mapping)
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English, suitable
for a diversely educated audience
Professional demeanor with a positive attitude
Self-motivated, energetic, results-driven, and client-service
oriented
Strong time management and prioritization skills; able to work
under pressure
Awareness and adherence to safety practices; ability to identify
and respond to hazards
Nice to Have's:
Master's degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Water
Resources Engineering or water quality/treatment
Demonstrated expertise in GoldSim simulation software with 5+ years
of experience in designing and developing water balance models
GoldSim Certified Solution Provider
Professional Engineer's license (PE) or equivalent
certification
Experience with metal mining operations, including tailings
storage, water dams, leach stockpiles, water treatment, and
refining processes
Experience using bathymetric and topographic survey data
Knowledge of slurry transport analysis and design
Experience with cost estimating for civil projects, project
scheduling, and project controls
Ability to research and analyze limited-scope information and draw
valid conclusions
Ability to evaluate and implement new design and operational
methods
Experience in surface water hydrology, hydraulics, groundwater
hydrology, and geotechnical engineering
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively
with technical and non-technical teams
Skilled in relevant engineering software (AutoCAD/Civil 3D, Muk3D,
ArcGIS) and programming languages (Python, R)
Fluency in Spanish or Bahasa Indonesian
Willingness and ability to travel domestically and
internationally
Availability to travel at least five (5) weeks per quarter
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline from
an accredited curriculum with five years of applicable experience
OR
Master's degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline with
three years of applicable experience
Pay & Benefits:
$90,000 to $120,000 base salary
