JOB TITLE: Lab Director for Imaging-CVS

REPORTS TO: Director of Education (DOE) & Program Director
PURPOSE:
The Lab Director is responsible for the overall operation and
administration of the clinical laboratory experience in the
Cardiovascular Sonography to simulate the clinical lab environment.
Oversight includes laboratory faculty and personnel, equipment,
supplies, safety, laboratory policies, quality assurance,
curriculum, and testing.
The Lab Director is required to meet with faculty, staff, students,
and the Externship Department on a regular basis to ensure the
Laboratory Program is both educationally and administratively sound
and prepares students for the entry-level clinical externship
environment. The Lab Director is accountable for the quality of
education, curriculum, and student outcomes, including graduation,
employment, and registry passage rates.
EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS / COMPETENCIES:
Associate's Degree or higher required; willingness to pursue a
Bachelor's Degree if not already obtained
Registered as ARDMS or CCI
4 years of clinical experience in the respective field
Must motivate instructors to provide a quality education
Demonstrate strong leadership and motivation skills
Possess strong oral and written communication skills
Meet all applicable regulatory requirements (ACCSC and state
regulatory body).
Must be registered with an applicable registry.
OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work with the DOE and Program Directors to develop high quality
laboratory faculty and ensure that there are sufficient faculty
with adequate experience and training; hire and develop qualified,
competent, and engaged instructors; ensure faculty are consistently
meeting their responsibilities.
Give input and collaborate with the Program Directors in conducting
at minimum quarterly laboratory faculty evaluations; create a plan
to mentor, coach and train any deficiencies.
Working alongside the DOE and Program Directors to maintain and
implement a curriculum that is current, robust, and adapts to new
developments in the field.
Make programmatic recommendations to the DOE and Program Directors
based on Clinical, Education, Student feedback, and student
outcomes.
Ensure laboratory equipment is sufficient and appropriate to
adequately prepare students for the clinical environment.
Coordinate meetings and training for Laboratory Faculty. Audit
instructor's classes and provide them with updates/insights to
ensure quality.
In collaboration with Program Directors, ensure laboratory
curriculum correlates with the academic content being delivered in
the lecture portion of the program.
Assists DOE and Program Directors in the development of laboratory
class schedules and laboratory instructor scheduling.
Assume the responsibilities of the laboratory instructors if there
is an absence where qualified or coordinate coverage in
collaboration with the Program Directors.
Possess a thorough knowledge and understanding of all school
policies and participate in their implementation and
enforcement.
Coordinate with the Sr. Externship Advisor to visit clinical sites
on a quarterly basis to ensure the students are well prepared for
entry level clinical externship environment.
Maintain an attitude of enthusiasm and willingness to cooperate
with others.
Treat students with fairness, respect, impartiality, and
objectivity.
Regularly participate in professional growth activities and provide
documentation of these activities as it relates to the being a
faculty member.
Ensure compliance with all regulatory bodies.
The Lab Director is expected to teach 10-20 hours per week at a
minimum.
Review Student progress to ensure they will advance into the
externship courses prepared to perform at the appropriate level of
ability.
Visit clinical sites and monitor student progress to ensure that
the clinical environment is current with industry standards and
practices.
Advise students with academic or professional conduct issues.
Ensure program attains appropriate graduation, registry passage,
and employment benchmarks.
Coordinate and explore ideas for Continuing Medical Activities
