Let your career find its purpose here at Abrazo West. /n /n Position Summary /n The Operating Room Surgical Technologist is responsible for assisting the /n physician with advanced tasks during surgical procedures. The OR ST must be able /n to work under high pressure in a fast paced environment. You will apply good /n interpersonal and communication process utilizing verbal and non-verbal skills to /n achieve organizational service goals of customer satisfaction and a positive work /n environment. The position requires the ability to be conscientious, organized, and /n orderly and the ability to respond quickly to the needs of the surgeon and patient. /n Responsibilities /n 1. Prepares for surgical procedures by pulling appropriate instruments and /n supplies. Reviews case carts for correct instruments and supplies; ensures good /n working order of instruments. Troubleshoots malfunctioning equipment and /n makes minor adjustments or calls biomedical equipment staff. Checks schedule /n and plans ahead for upcoming surgical case needs. /n 2. Anticipates the surgeon's needs. Scrubs and provides instruments, sutures, and /n other sterile supplies during surgical procedure. Passes instruments and retracts /n tissue. /n 3. Demonstrates the principles of aseptic technique and universal precautions /n throughout the procedure. Participates in counting sharps, instruments and /n sponges. Prepares instruments for cleaning following each case. Disposes of /n sharps and trash appropriately in designated areas. /n 4. Ensures that all surgeon preference cards are accurate. /n 5. Assists with OR turnover between cases. Participates in stocking, replenishing /n supplies and cleaning operating rooms. /n 6. Participates in or leads the training and orientation of surgical staff and /n students, as assigned. /n 7. This position follows safety procedures in regard to medication labeling, /n appropriate handling of specimens, appropriate handling of sharps, time-out /n procedure, radiation and laser safety, infection control, assembling and /n disassembling instruments. /n Minimum education: Surgical technologist certification program /n Preferred Education: /n Minimum experience: 1 year of experience in a surgical technologist role /n Preferred experience: 1 year in Level 1 trauma OR setting /n Required licenses/certifications: Surgical technologist certification and Basic life /n support certification /n Hours per week: 36 hours /n On call requirement: Yes /n LI-SB3 Tenet AZ Job ID 2503012070-2.
