Job Description Job Description The Community Violence
Intervention Specialist is responsible for providing
trauma-informed intervention and case management services to people
injured by community violence. The Village Program is a community
violence intervention (CVI) program and hospital-based violence
intervention program (HVIP). With the intent to reduce crime
throughout the Tucson community. The Village Program Specialist
will be responsible for navigating health and social services with
participants, peer engagement and modeling, group facilitation, and
other group activities, with a particular focus on serving young
men of color who are survivors of violence both within the HVIP,
CVI program, and in the broader community. The Village Program will
coordinate services and resources with community agencies, county
services, healthcare professionals, and community groups in the
city of Tucson. This program is grant-funded by the Department of
Justice. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES *Demonstrate company’s values
at all times. *Works with the Community Violence Intervention
Supervisor to plan, implement and manage community violence
intervention programs (CVIPs), hospital-based violence intervention
programs (HVIPs), and services that support people injured by
violence. *Respond to referral line and direct all calls
appropriately, including providing resource referrals to other
agencies/services, if applicable. *Manage and support standards and
data management within Apricot, HMIS, and other data management
software and programs. *Engage participants in the HVIPs and CVIP,
providing support and assistance with navigating community
resources. *Works with Community Violence Intervention Supervisor
to discuss data entry procedures; review data, and upload
information within Apricot data system and any irregular intervals
according to established processes and timelines; create and
maintain processes for required data entry. *Facilitate
inter-organizational cooperation with community agencies, county
services, healthcare professionals, and community groups. This
includes CVI and violence prevention presentations to community
stakeholders, schools, and other groups. *Attend trauma informed
trainings and workshops locally or nationally. *Assist with
community engagement and outreach methods, including visits to
agencies, organizations, and employers to build collaborative
partnerships in addition to contributing to community violence
prevention initiatives. *Advocate for participants and act as a
liaison with community providers and agencies. Adhere to strict
boundaries and professional ethics in the care of others. Stay
informed on any policy, procedure, or activities that affect the
program including accreditation and federal regulations related to
funding sources (conditions of awards). Participate in all required
training provided by funding source and Goodwill, as needed. *Serve
as a Goodwill Ambassador in the community and engage in community
outreach, resource development, and networking activities to grow
and market The Village Program and other Goodwill programs. Keep
Director of Community Engagement and Community Violence
Intervention Supervisor informed of unusual and/or crisis
situations as they arise. Ensures all safety rules are adhered to
and the general upkeep of the facility meets the standards of
Goodwill Industries of Southern Arizona, Inc. Reports accidents or
injuries immediately. Other duties as assigned *Denotes essential
functions of position MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree in
Social Work or related field, preferred Relevant lived experience
with the justice system and/or community engagement Minimum of 2
years’ experience with at-risk youth and the juvenile justice
system, required Demonstrated commitment to working with youth
(ages 12-24), especially boys and young men of color. Understanding
of the impact of violence and trauma on individuals and
communities, particularly gun and group violence, preferred.
Ability to work some evenings and weekend hours. Experience with
recruitment and case management, preferred. Excellent oral and
written communication skills. Computer skills to include Microsoft
Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Must possess or be able to
obtain Level 1 Fingerprint clearance card. Must have reliable
transportation, possess a valid AZ driver’s license, current auto
insurance and meet Goodwill’s acceptable driving record insurance
requirements to travel throughout the Southern Arizona area.
Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships
with all individuals.
