Job Description:
Job Description Single or multi-department management of
operations. Manages day to day operations. Directs, supervises,
orients/trains and evaluates staff. Enforces policies, procedures
and standards of operation. Position has budgetary or fiscal
accountability. The Diagnostic Imaging Clinical Manager performs
and demonstrates proficiency and understanding of all areas of the
radiology department as well as instructing and mentoring other
personnel. They also perform with perceptive depth radiology
procedures requiring the expertise of independent judgment and
responsibility. They assure the highest degree of quality patient
care is maintained at all times and ensure smooth operation of the
department. Position is responsible for approving timekeeping,
employee evaluation, meeting applicable regulatory standards,
approving supply orders and department strategic planning. -
Management -Resolves team conflict. Applies team building skills. -
Assists in new employee orientation -Identifies poor and positive
performance and acts as first line coach providing feedback and
counseling -Keeps staff informed by frequent communication of
policy changes, organizational goals, customer service issues, and
department performance issues. - Radiology -Performs proper
billing/ charging with hospital computer systems. -Uses radiology
equipment properly and efficiently. Proficiency with general
operating procedure i.e. start up procedures, calibration of
equipment, troubleshooting, QC, preventative maintenance,
malfunctioning equipment and problem solving. -Maintains
appropriate communication with radiologists and staff. In depth
knowledge of human anatomy, proper patient positioning and good
technical judgment. Adequate assessment and explanation of
procedure to patient before testing occurs. Assists in ongoing
monitoring and evaluation of the appropriateness and effectiveness
of patient care. - Achievement: -Self directed in interpreting and
implementing organizational goals. Assists in developing standards
of care consistent with local and national standard. -Clearly
identifies and prioritizes what needs to be done in terms of
patient care and unit tasks. Accurately estimates patient workloads
and ensures staffing reflects workloads. Participates in interviews
and staff selection. -Assist in setting performance and behavior
standards and in evaluating performance. - Completes unit staffing
for 24-hour period including weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
Provides data, information and reports in a timely manner. Assists
with long-term staff plans. Completes work schedules and posts in a
timely manner. - Problem Solving -Identifies, proposes solutions,
and assists in implementation of ideas for improvements in patient
care and department/hospital operations. Functions as a patient
advocate. Participates in the successful implementation of changes.
- Identifies and takes steps to eliminate unnecessary patient
interventions and diagnostic studies. Identifies opportunities and
implements strategies to decrease waste in supplies, equipment and
linen use. -Assists staff in identifying patient problems and
making good patient care decisions. Directs staff in maintaining a
safe environment and customer satisfaction when staffing or
resources need to be stretched. Analyzes a complex problem or
project and is able to identify the consequences of various
solutions. Participate in hospital process improvement activities.
- Personal Performance: -Educates and mentors staff and acts as
resource person on unit and elsewhere in hospital. Maintains
personal clinical skills and professional competence; demonstrates
high levels clinical decision making ability. Completes
projects/assignments as requested by director. - Special Skills:
Good verbal and written communication skills necessary to
understand oral and written instructions stated in radiological and
- medical terms and to exchange information with patients and
staff. Ability to effectively communicate, written and verbal
skills. - Minimum Requirements - Experience: Five years radiology
experience and two years supervisory experience. - Education:
Completion of JRCERT approved formal program in Radiologic
Technology. - Certifications:Current Arizona Registered Radiologic
Technologist (ARRT) and Certified Radiology Tech (CRT). - Preferred
Requirements - Experience: Multi-modality hospital experience and
