OpportunityThe Manager, Manufacturing leads the manufacturing
function within budget and output targets to meet customer
requirements and standards. This role has full accountability for
ensuring safety, customer quality, cost and delivery requirements
are met. Responsible for developing an enthusiastic, motivated high
performing team by utilizing Roche leadership principles. Leads the
team on best practice and establishes standard policies and
procedures. Implements and leads continuous improvement and modern
manufacturing principles by identifying deficiencies and
implementing changes in training, working practices and processes.
Partners with the leadership teams within Roche to drive
efficiencies through the optimization of manufacturing functions to
meet or exceed corporate and local objectives. Roche encourages and

Safety, Compliance (20%)
- Maintain Right to Operate and ensure that all processes are
performed in a safe and healthy manner; Resolve any potentially
unsafe hazards; Timely reporting of safety hazards, incidents and
near misses. Actively drives accountability through
organization
- Accountable for compliance and enforcement of Good
Manufacturing Practices/Quality System Regulation and Safety
guidelines and policies in all areas of responsibility.
- Reviews, signs-off and ensures staff is trained on new
documentation; Ensure individual and team training compliance (e.g.
NCRs, OJT, Operating Procedures, Manufacturing Work Instructions,
new product transfer, process validation); Responsible for
maintaining greater than 95% in training compliance for self and
areas of responsibility
- Audit readiness (OSHA, FDA, Area audits, etc.); Represent
operations during internal audits/inspections.
- Responsible for identification and implementation of root
cause, corrective actions, nonconformance reports and CAPA's in all
areas of responsibility.People Development and Leadership (50%)
- Understand and drive local and global strategic initiatives,
and actively provide input and feedback relative to local strategy;
Builds Roche network(s) to support and drive local and global
initiatives.
- Assess and establish a departmental structure to ensure
stability to meet future needs, assigning responsibilities,
delegating, recruiting, selecting, training and retaining
employees.
- Leads with a "servant leadership" mentality; Applies Roche
leadership principles (Visionary, Architect, Coaching and Catalyst)
as a standard way of leading and achieving department targets.
- Drives and owns team success and results by coaching,
counseling and managing performance, team building, planning, and
monitoring KPIs.
- May lead other leaders; Owns leadership and team development,
succession planning and demonstrating our People Practices.
- Responsible for time and attendance tracking of employees.
- Visible leader to organization by working with third party
vendors, providing tours, delivering presentations to internal and
external stakeholders; Active member of the extended leadership
team, including engaged participation in daily tiered
meetings.Business Objectives (20%)
- Support production planning by setting priorities and schedules
for materials and labor, tracking progress and inventories, and
addressing escalations. Ensure timely attention to production
requirements such as safety, quality, schedules, and equipment,
while maintaining optimal inventory levels. Provide expert data,
information, and suggestions to enable 24/5 operations across
multiple shifts and drive optimal business performance.
- Partners with other areas(s) to deliver E2E manufacturing
strategies, production quality standards, methods, policies,
procedures, equipment and labor requirements based on business and
departments needs.
- Delivers financial objectives by preparing and leading
departmental budgets, expenses, analyzing variances, costs, and may
prepare capital and other financial justifications.
- Responsible for publishing and communicating key performance
metrics, analyzing and developing and executing plans for
improvement.Continuous Improvement (10%)
- Act as a change agent and drive a culture of continuous
improvement by actively demonstrating the use of Lean Manufacturing
tools and methodologies.
- Identification, development, and successful completion of lean
projects to reduce costs, improve quality and improve process
efficiencies that deliver value to the business.
- Develop and implement Leadership Standard Work (LSW) and
designing standard work/best practices through their area(s) of
responsibility.Other duties as assigned.Who You AreEducation and
Experience
- Bachelor's Degree (required) - preferred Logistics/Supply
Chain, Science, Engineering/Engineering Technology or Life Science
discipline
- 5 years relevant work experience, preferably in regulated
industry
- 3 years direct people leader experience
- Master's Degree (preferred) with 4 years of relevant work
experience, 3 years of direct people leadership experience
- Six Sigma certification or Green Belt, preferred
- Experience operating in a GMP/regulated environment,
required
- Experience leading leaders, preferred
- Demonstrated experience with Lean/Continuous Improvement and/or
Agile methodologiesKnowledge Skills and Abilities
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Working knowledge and experience with MRP/ERP systems, digital
tools, process workflows and project management.
- Strong influencing skills; Consistently achieves targeted
results without authority and by leveraging his/her expertise,
knowledge, interpersonal skills, organizational savvy and
relationships with all levels of staff and management.
- Ability to professionally interact with all levels of staff and
leadership; Able to raise concerns or challenges in a productive
and competent manner
- Demonstrated ability to develop and lead/direct a
high-performing team.
- Exceptional skills in assessing, summarizing and presenting
business or operational priorities and decision-points for
effective, timely and efficient management/executive
decision-making.
- Preferred experience in Google applications and Microsoft
Office
- This position may require the individual to wear and work in
personal protective equipment.
- Available for on-call duty for after-hours emergencies. May
work extended hours, weekends and/or holidays.Relocation benefits
are available for this postingThe expected salary range for this
position based on the primary location of Tucson, AZ is $93,500 -
$173,600. Actual pay will be determined based on experience,
qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors
permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available
based on individual and Company performance. This position also
